About Our Company
KBIM is an architectural content development company dedicated to the creation of custom, full-color rendered, detail item families based on AutoDesk Revit. The content is purpose built for the architectural and engineering design professions. KBIM was born out of the desire to create embellished color details, with a standardized color system representing individual detail components for architectural detailing.
It’s our passion as architects to develop informative, beautiful drawings in all phases of design work. Our new color detail system began with initial experimentation in 2011. We continue to develop best format, function, and color representation of our detail components. The initial color system began with creating readable color details, where critical components such as metals, flashings, air and weather barriers, insulation, caulking and sealants have dedicated line colors and fills to identify their function. We believe these important color elements stand-out within the detail assemblies expressing their function. The second purpose was to create and add new components not found in the out-of-the-box provided libraries that would allow us to finish-out details with consistent built families with built-in user configurable graphic functions to reduce “manual line drafting techniques” . The new “smart-built” components are all keyed for tagging keynotes in details. We believe full component representation reduces the time to construct details, taking the guess work out materials and replacing the drafting of non-standard, and potentially incorrect building components.
Within our first year’s use on architectural projects we were inspired to continue with the basic established principles. The current result is the creation of an in-depth catalog of components driven to assemble numerous construction types of details. We bring over thirty-seven years of architectural design and detailing knowledge to our detail components content and we hope you will find them very useful in daily practice.
